David Edwards

Hello. My name is David. I'm a counsellor/psychotherapist. I use my knowledge, training and life experience to help people. Welcome to my page.

Who I Am

I became a therapist after falling in love with therapy itself when spending many hours myself in the clients chair, working through my own stuff and ultimately finding myself. I realised therapy is a wonderful way for me to channel most of the things that have mattered to me for most of my life: what it means to live a good life, thinking about thinking, presence and self awareness, kindness and compassion, philosophy and depth, conversation and listening. My work is more than a job, it is one of the ways I answer the call from my soul.
James Hollis said "Awake from your slumber, find what you love, and let it kill you."

As well as a therapist, I am a writer and artist. I am an experienced meditator, a below-average musician and a lover of life.

These theoretical approaches have influenced my own approach. These numbers don’t make sense mathematically, but if they did, it wouldn’t make sense of how I work. Being an integrative therapist rather than a singularly specialised one gives me an approach that is as unique and individual as me and my clients.

My Approach

I have my own unique approach to therapy. Most clients begin meeting with me because they want change. They want to change something about their lives, or themselves. I believe that meaningful change happens when we become more aware of who we are, what the process of our life is like, what sets our soul on fire and we need to celebrate more and what is getting in the way of us enjoying our lives.

I do this through conversation. We talk, and as we do, we explore what is happening between us in the here-and-now. This leads to a recovery of wholeness, a bringing back to life parts of us that we forgot about, rejected or banished long ago.

One of the most important parts of my approach is: all is welcome. There is no right or wrong way to be as my client. I refuse to put myself or my clients into a neatly labelled box. Wherever you're at, whatever is going on for you, if you have a desire to understand yourself more, all parts of you are so welcome. I'll be David, and you'll be you.

David, has changed my life by teaching me how to look at things that have been conditioned in my brain for many years in a different way!

He doesn’t mince his words and says it how he sees it ….which suits my style or communication and thinking !

He listens, challenges and debates the outcome.

I only wanted to be a 5.1 in my mood, but now regularly I’m a 7.5-8 ( David you know that that means!)

Could not recommend him highly enough !

Individual Therapy Client

David is an honest, down-to-earth and approachable therapist who has helped us immensely to guide us through some difficult challenges in our lives.

At every stage he has shown compassion and genuine interest in the root of points of conflict, and has helped us to show ourselves and others more kindness and love.

We have been allowed to share openly and be heard with patience, and he will often go out of his way to accommodate your specific therapy needs. He will (politely) call you out when you may not be being genuine with yourself or others, and this often leads to seeking truth in yourself with ease.

He has helped us to learn so much about ourselves and I have no doubt that we will continue to carry our own life-lessons and personal growth with us for the rest of our lives.

He is an exceptional therapist and a lovely person inside and out- we have a huge amount of respect for him! Can't recommend him enough.

Couples Therapy Client

I have been working with David for the last 5months and would not be in the place I am today without him. He is kind, warm and inviting. Would 100% recommend.

Individual Therapy Client

"When my husband and I first met David, I was feeling nervous and unsure about starting therapy. From the very beginning, he made me feel welcome, comfortable, and at ease. He has such a calm and compassionate presence, and he helped me truly understand the benefits of having someone who can mediate, listen, and gently guide you toward a better understanding of yourself and your relationships.

Our sessions with David have been incredibly valuable. He supported us through open and honest conversations, helped us gain clarity, and brought new light and perspective back into our lives. We are so grateful for his guidance and care, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone considering therapy."
